Jason & Karin | Maternity

May 15, 2011 | Filed Under Maternity, Portrait | 2 Comments

Oh Jason and Karin…

Karin is one of my closest cousins and Jason the brother of my best friend growing up. I’m not saying that I take credit for Jay and Karin meeting, dating, and marrying, but it’s kind of obvious, isn’t it? I’ve been making the campaign for them to name their first child, who’s due any day now, David. I’m not sure if my campaign has been persuasive enough, but I’m very happy for them none the less.

Elizabeth & Rob | Portraits

March 7, 2011 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Some of you blog readers might not have noticed, but two weeks ago I had a giveaway for a free photoshoot to someone who “liked” DLP on Facebook.

Over 150 people entered, but Elizabeth was the lucky winner. She says this is the first thing she’s ever won, but I’m hoping it starts a lucky streak for her.

After a rainy weekend, the clouds were kind enough to part so Elizabeth and her boyfriend Rob could get some great shots in Pasadena.

Check out my favorites below, and if you haven’t already, “like” DLP on Facebook so you can be eligible for the next giveaway.

Photonerds: This was my first shoot with my new 7D and 24mm f/1.4. It’s safe to say that I’m totally in love.

Flagstaff & the Grand Canyon | Vacation

March 2, 2011 | Filed Under Personal | Leave a Comment

I was lucky enough to take a quick vacation to Flagstaff, AZ last week to visit my friend Nik who is in NAU’s Doctoral Physical Therapy program last week. Did you know it snowed in Arizona? This was a surprise to me.

The Grand Canyon is mindblowing. If you’ve never been before, I highly recommended it.

Of course, I took my new gear with me. Here are a few favorite shots.

Andrew & Ariel | Engagement

January 29, 2011 | Filed Under Engagement | Leave a Comment

Andrew and Ariel are both recent graduates of Azusa Pacific University, and met while studying abroad at Oxford University in the UK (Andrew: business, Ariel: books). It only made sense to spend the majority of our time trolling the campuses of the Claremont Colleges (often referred to as the Ivy League West) and then walking the streets of Claremont — the city of trees and PHDs.
.
We had a great time hanging out and making these pictures, but for a few shots Ariel managed to hold back for a model look that was — in a word– fierce.
Oh, and look out for the last image: it moves.

Rachel | Graduation Portraits

January 27, 2011 | Filed Under Portrait | Leave a Comment

Remember back in college, when you lived in the on-campus dorms, and there was an upperclass student called an RA that lived on your hall and made sure you behaved?
In my experience, there’s usually two kinds of RAs: lame ones that are all about rules, and the cool ones that make college awesome by actually hanging out with their residents. Rachel, much like Amber from the previous post, is definitely one of the cool ones. She’s an RA at Azusa Pacific University where she’ll be graduating this spring. Every graduation needs a celebration, and what’s a better celebration than a photo shoot?
Comment and like on Facebook, if you’re so inclined.

Amber | Graduation Portraits

January 27, 2011 | Filed Under Portrait | Leave a Comment

You know those people that makes you smile as soon as you see them? Even if you see them from 50 yards away, and they haven’t even opened their mouth to say hello, you can’t help but crack a smile?

Amber is one of those people. She’s a fantastic friend of mine and is graduation from APU this spring. Oh, and she’s a blast to take photos with.

Comment and Like over on Facebook, if that’s your thing.

The Wild Reeds

January 27, 2011 | Filed Under Promotion | Leave a Comment

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you The Wild Reeds!

The Wild Reeds is a local LA band made up of three lovely ladies who I am lucky enough to call my friends. With the style and whimsy of generations long before, and featuring instruments you’ve probably never even seen before, these girls create music that just makes you stop and smile. Oh, and they can rock a three part harmony like nobody’s business.

They’re working on their sophomore album right now, and needed some promo shots and I was happy to oblige. I’ve included a video of them covering a Beach Boys classic at the end of this post, but if you’d like to hear more you can visit them on MySpace, Facebook, or buy their debut album on iTunes.

And here’s a great living room style video just to give you a taste of how great The Reeds are.

Blake & Maren | Engagement

January 19, 2011 | Filed Under Engagement | Leave a Comment

Blake and I met when we were both freshmen at APU. Even though he left the next year to head up to San Luis Obispo, we’ve always kept in touch. Even then, I was surprised and excited to hear from him a few months ago that he was engaged to his lovely girlfriend Maren.

Blake and Maren drove down from SLO earlier this month and we had a great time exploring around La Cresenta and the Hollywood Hills. Can’t wait for their wedding in August.

Rex | Graduation Portraits

December 3, 2010 | Filed Under Portrait | Leave a Comment

My good friend Rex is about a week away from graduating from my alma mater, Azusa Pacific University with a degree in communications, but by the looks he’s flashing in these portraits we took earlier this week you’d think he’s graduating from modeling school.

I’ve known Rex since we were freshmen over 4 years ago, and we even lived together for a few months.

I love how these photos turned out almost as much as I love Rex. Congrats friend!
