I believe this was the point in Josh’s speech where he told the story of Josiah asking Linnea on their first date. To Chipotle. Via text message. Well done, Josie.

Daniel and Katie | Wedding

Earlier this month, my good friend Daniel Chesnut married Katie, the love of his life (and a pretty nice girl). While I attended the wedding as a guest, not a photographer (a welcome change), I couldn’t help but snap a few photos during the reception.
.
All in all, it was a great day with great friends. Congrats Daniel and Katie!

SOLD Freeze Project | Event

May 25, 2010 | Filed Under Event | Leave a Comment

A few months ago, my friend Amber Wells (she’s totally awesome, by the way) asked me if I would be available to photograph something called the Freeze Project. I agreed without knowing much about it. When it came time to photograph the actual event, I was quite impressed. The Freeze Project incorporates the flash-mob idea popularized by groups like Improv Everywhere, and made it actually work for something. At the event (held at Downtown Disney), participants all froze at the same time for five minutes. Once the five minutes was up, they passed out flyers explaining why they were doing that.
.
So why did they do this? Participants were raising awareness of the 27+ Million people trapped in slavery around the world.Between 600,000 & 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders as slaves each year. Of these 80% are women, and 50% are children. The Freeze Project allowed groups like SOLD to let people know about this modern tragedy so that they might advocate for those trapped in slavery.
.
A great cause and a great event. And I think we got some cool pictures to document it.

Josh & Ashley | Proposal

May 25, 2010 | Filed Under Proposal | Leave a Comment

Following not too far behind Josiah, Josh is the third member of my freshman hall (First South Side!)  to get engaged. Josh and Ashley have dated for a looooooong time (8 years, I think). And decided it’s finally time to tie the knot. Congratulations to them both.
.
Josh proposed to Ashley at the top of Glendora Mountain Road after leading her (or rather, following – she beat him to the top) up a 6 mile bike ride. After the romantic proposal, they drove back down to Josh’s house where Ashley was surprised by family and friends for an engagement party.

Temporary Vessel | Art Show

While I might be a bit biased, I think Temporary Vessel was an amazing art show. Housed a few months ago in APU’s Heritage Gallery & curated by Marissa Quinn, Jessica Lucia, Kaitlyn Jensen, & Kari Bixby featured the work of a dozen or so APU artists with pieces focusing on the temporal nature of art, and it’s interaction with the artist. A GREAT gallery! Here’s a little secret for you, the photos in the 7th photo are by yours truly. What an honor to be featured in a real gallery! Thanks ladies!

You might recognize Jessica & Aimee from the famous cupcake blog Sweets & Stitches. And while Jonathan isn’t nearly as famous, he’s still awesome.
These portraits aren’t really for anything, just for fun really. Sometimes it’s good just to head out with some friends and make photos.

Josiah & Linnea | Engagement

May 25, 2010 | Filed Under Engagement | Leave a Comment

Josiah is a good friend of mine who I’ve known since we met freshman year at Azusa Pacific four years ago. Josiah lived in room 101 of our dorm hall, and I was in 104. It’s been great to experience college with these guys, and is especially fun to see everyone start to get engaged and married (Josiah will be #2 from our hall).

.

Last December, I was honored to be able to photograph Josiah proposing to his girlfriend (now fiancé) Linnea. After the new semester picked up, we took the opportunity to spend two days (TWO DAYS!) cruising around LA taking some engagement photos.

We spend day 1 of our shoot in Azusa, then moved to downtown LA for day 2. It was a blast, and I think we got some great images.
