Andrew & Ariel | Engagement

Andrew and Ariel are both recent graduates of Azusa Pacific University, and met while studying abroad at Oxford University in the UK (Andrew: business, Ariel: books). It only made sense to spend the majority of our time trolling the campuses of the Claremont Colleges (often referred to as the Ivy League West) and then walking the streets of Claremont — the city of trees and PHDs.

We had a great time hanging out and making these pictures, but for a few shots Ariel managed to hold back for a model look that was — in a word– fierce.

Blake & Maren | Engagement

Blake and I met when we were both freshmen at APU. Even though he left the next year to head up to San Luis Obispo, we’ve always kept in touch. Even then, I was surprised and excited to hear from him a few months ago that he was engaged to his lovely girlfriend Maren.

Blake and Maren drove down from SLO earlier this month and we had a great time exploring around La Cresenta and the Hollywood Hills. Can’t wait for their wedding in August.

Charlie & Chelsea | Engagement

By the time we met, Charlie & Chelsea had already taken some engagement photos, so they decided for our shoot we would do the next logical thing – put them in full wedding attire and go horseback riding and wake boarding. Yes, you read that right. Now ladies, don’t worry, this isn’t Chelsea’s actual wedding gown, she works in the industry and snagged this one for real cheap. Charlie looks pretty darn good in his $12 thrift store tuxedo too.

This was probably the craziest shoot I’ve ever done, and I can’t wait till their wedding in September. They’re doing it big, and they’re doing it right. I’d tell you about it, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise. Let’s just say I’m already excited to shoot it.

Josiah & Linnea | Engagement

Josiah is a good friend of mine who I’ve known since we met freshman year at Azusa Pacific four years ago. Josiah lived in room 101 of our dorm hall, and I was in 104. It’s been great to experience college with these guys, and is especially fun to see everyone start to get engaged and married (Josiah will be #2 from our hall).

Last December, I was honored to be able to photograph Josiah proposing to his girlfriend (now fiancé) Linnea. After the new semester picked up, we took the opportunity to spend two days (TWO DAYS!) cruising around LA taking some engagement photos.

We spend day 1 of our shoot in Azusa, then moved to downtown LA for day 2. It was a blast, and I think we got some great images.
